The Arrival of the Comic
Hello and welcome to another BeckiLamby blog post! In this post I wanted to bring you into my new little world of comics and the artists that have inspired me to make my own. So grab that cuppa and settle in for a 2 minute journey through the world of 4 square comic strips!
My first love of these four square comics came from the b e i n g s created by Nathan Pyle, whom you should all check out immediately... HERE
He has created a wonderful collection of simple yet brilliant comics that revolve around these alien beings of his creation. He talks about the weird quirks of the world from their viewpoint and always has some creative names for our most human phrases. I have to say, I always look forward to his comics, their emotive expressions are super cute and I often laugh out loud in agreement with his take on the world.
You'll want more after seeing these, so here are three of my favourites!
Another favourite of mine is Safely Endangered, who you can check out HERE
They have comics revolving around a lot of topics, from encouraging you to stay at home right now to cliche movie scenes and cute little earth comics. I adore these because you don't know what you're going to get next, each one is different and they make me laugh so hard sometimes. They're definitely the pick me up we all need, especially with the brilliant twist on the last square.
Here's a couple of my favourites, it was super hard to choose!
After seeing so many of these awesome comics from these two amazing illustrators, I had an idea to make my own using terrible jokes and emphasising their punchlines. I have made 3 so far, two of which I've put up on Instagram on which I'm now calling Comic Tuesday.
My aim is to keep them coming every week, of course when life goes back to some sort of normality that might be a bit of a challenge, but I'm working hard now to get at least four weeks in advance so I can keep it going!
If you have any jokes that you'd like brought to life, let me know in the comments or send me a message over on Instagram. Having you guys involved is part of the fun!
So without further ado, here is my first ever comic strip...
